Here we are at the top of the hill
Looking down at where we came from, not on
Pepper corns three grinds from the mill
Years slip past so fast that sound can’t keep the pace
The faces, timelines, names and places all but lost in stasis
The space between us grew despite where we stayed stood
Space itself is growing and it won’t slow down
Before the bubble bursts I’d like to prove that I was around
As we drown in the sand we’ll each offer our hand
Through the neck till one speck becomes the other
Two corns ground
The thing that sticks is the blessing of being fixed
On your unmistakable voice and the subsequent noise
From within the void
A breakthrough that couldn’t come too soon
In fact it graces you a face as though
They might see you
The endless silence from a life of dalliance
All the pipe dreams you could dream of, make a meal of
Living off the fat and marrow till the harrowing payoff
A skeletal frame of a house down the lane of a street with no name
And that’s how you play out the game
The endless silence from a life of dalliance
Once more you clear and burn the floor
The thought keeps crossing my mind
It only takes one bullet
To end the universe of trouble in it
How’s that for focus?
Make a choice, good or bad
Be the driver, not the driven
Even corporate buzz words help find what we’re missing
The volition that comes from one simple admission
We’re on the road to chaos if we give the wheel
If we give the wheel to indecision
Un-tethered, blindly soaring through the clouds
The longer I stayed up there the longer I stayed away from the crowds
A stranger lands with great collateral damage followed by
The endless silence from a life of dalliance
